Panama offers investors from abroad an excellent environment in the social, cultural, legal and politic areas. The characteristics of our country, contributes to make it attractive and position it as one of the most important logistic center of the hemisphere.

The followings are some characteristics that may be considered when thinking of investing in Panama.

• Ports in both oceans: the Pacific and the Atlantic. These terminals work for the transfer and
redistribution of cargo, showing activity in constant growth.
• Our railroad system is used to transport cargo from ocean to ocean and also as transportation
for tourists from Panama City to Colon (two of the most important cities in ;the country) and
vice versa.
• Air transportation: the Tocumen International Airport is considered a hub for direct flights to Latin
America, Europe and United Estates. There are also domestic flights to all the country.
• The US dollar is legal tender and absolutely exchangeable with the Balboa (Panamanian currency)
• The Panama Canal: inter-oceanic route used by ships from all over the world as a shorter and
cheaper way to access to either the Pacific or the Atlantic oceans.
• Bank center: banks from around the world converge in this country to offer a diversity of options
in the banking area.
• Colon Free Zone: considered the zone of greater international trade of the hemisphere, in where
transactions of import and export are made. The merchandise coming from all parts of the world
are totally duty free, either to be distributed or to be re-exported.
