The Panamanian Institute of Tourism (IPAT) was created by the Decree of Law 22 on the 15th of September of 1960. IPAT was created with the finality of increasing tourism in the country. Today, the Ministry of Tourism, which is in handled by the Panamanian song writer Ruben Blades, First Manager of the IPAT and designated the title of Minister in Charge of Tourism in .
